Flex Cut & Grind
Hello and good morning! Hope all are well. Today I am going to be giving a quick review on this fairly new product from Hermes abrasives. Better known for its fantastic sanding belts/discs etc, Hermes also manufacture a range of cutting discs, with the 'Flex' being one of them.
This is a cutting disc however with a twist, enabling you to cut & grind with the same discs due to a unique design which enables the disc to flex when grinding so that the disc does not shatter and break.
Being the cynical sort of person that I am, I expected the disc to be mediochre at best in terms of cutting and marginally better with regard to grinding.
I was wrong. Again.
I found the disc excellent to cut with and then the ease of just changing the angle makes short work of gridning anything, saving lots of time as there is no need to change disc!
One of my customers found this particularly useful as he works at height where changing a disc can be a precarious practice and a nightmare with regards to health and safety. So this is the sort of situation where the flex disc comes into its own.

How does it work?
Usually if you attempt to grind with a cutting disc, the wheel will fracture and break as it is only designed to take force from the front of the disc
With the flex disc, it has been specifically engineered to slightly flex when force is put on the bottom of the disc, enabling grinding and cutting without changing disc.
